My Favorite Snacks To Keep Bloat Away

Seriously, when people talk about losing weight or getting fit and how they're hungry as a result, I look at them with horror. That ain't right!!! It's also not sustainable because at some point you're going to get hungry (or hangry) and make a bad choice. Preachin' to the LSF choir, I know, but you girls know I'm all about a healthy lifestyle and #LiveGuiltless … and that means making good healthy choices. No deprivation!?

I get a lot of questions about how I eat and what I eat, and aside from all the goodies I share in the HBMP and Guiltless Nutrition Guide , I have another favorite snack I want to share with you. Chia seeds (and other amazing snacks) from Mamma Chia . Oh. My. GAWD. So good andsomany ways to love them, too!

It just so happens ?that today is National Chia Day, too! Woot woot for another delicious holiday!!!?We also happen to be celebrating it in a BIG way over here at LSF + Mamma Chia… but first.

What's Chia? Why do it?

These tiny little seeds are packed full of amazing goodness like omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fiber, iron, and calcium! Those omega-3s help raise the "good" cholesterol that helps protect against heart attack and stroke. They even have a full 5.6 grams of protein in each 1-oz serving! Sign me up!?

Another reason to hop aboard the chia train? Chia's been shown to support a healthy complexion, increased energy, and overall lower weight. Perfect snack much!? YUP!

Why Mamma Chia?

You girls know that I only get behind a brand that I really, truly love. Ihaveto adore their product to recommend it, and part of that is connecting with their brand. When I first heard the story behind Mamma Chia's founder and CEO, Janie Hoffman, I knew I'd found the brand for me. She and I share so many commonalities in why we started our health journeys and ultimately our health-focused business ventures. Janie had suffered fordecadeswith massive autoimmune issues and when she switched to an organic diet and introduced chia into her life —she went into remission! Seriously, that gives me CHILLS. I cansorelate!

Janie realized what I realized after all my years of yo-yo dieting… Food is medicine! Because of her own experience with wellness from an organic diet, Janie had her big a-ha moment and realized it was her mission in life to share the "magic" of chia. And so, her organic chia company, Mamma Chia , was born!

I love, love, love knowing the "Behind the Music" (haha, remember that show?!) for how a brand I love came to be, and Janie's story really resonates with me — makes me love Mamma Chia even more!

My Best Ways to Chia

So, I obviously love regular chia seeds, but my latest love affair has been Mamma Chia's granola clusters. It adds the perfect little sweet crunch to greek yogurt. I love having a little greek yogurt bark topped with it and fresh bluberries for a healthy version of dessert after dinner. Yummm…

Why I Chia

Aside from all of the obvious reasons to love chia (scroll up ?), I have personally found so many commonalities with Janie's story and how chia helped her health. Chia is super helpful for me with all of my digestive issues and I will take any help I can get in that department!

Chia Jam

  • 2 cups raspberries
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1½ – 2 tbsp. honey

Directions

  1. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper. In bowl, mix yogurt and monkfruit. Use a spoon or spatula to spread the yogurt mixture across pepper in a thin layer. 3. Heat rasberries, lemon, and honey over medium heat.
  4. Stir and smash the berries up into a jam consistency! Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
